Valentines Day In Cameroon Africa.

Yaounde, Cameroon Africa. February 2011. (Cameroon News) – The feast day of Saint Valentine’s which is celebrated all over the world as a day for lovers was also celebrated in grand scale in Cameroon.


Valentine’s day just like in the other pats of the world is becoming increasingly sought after day for celebrations especially amongst couples in love in Cameroon. In order to add more glitz and glamour to the day, the state owned television network CRTV had arranged an exclusive televised programme, baptized Love Time a show which aimed at giving a prize to the best written love letter.

The reality show which was broadcast live on CRTV saw innumerable love birds show up at the TV Production Center.
The studio was jam packed with lovers who had come in hordes to share their feelings on TV by penning beautiful letters while making the best out of those special moments.
The young couple also seemed to be enjoying the glamour filled event that was enhanced by the presence of the live orchestra who churned out beautiful romantic melodies which added to the mood of the occasion.

The annual feast day also showed its increased significance which was made evident by the rush of love struck couples in snack bars; nightclubs and relaxation areas were many couples were seen to be sharing romantic moments all replete with food and drink.

Numerous musical concerts and buffet lunches and dinners have been arranged all over the various cities and they were found to be huge successes a they were attended by couples using the best advantage of the occasion to commemorate their union.

The day also sees lovers exchanging letters in memory of St. Valentine, the patron saint of love birds.

Going beyond the usual gift exchanges and celebration Valentines Day is in fact a special occasion to bring back lost or forgotten love by verses and gifts and can span across all ages.
