Uyo City’s Nest of Champions is the most ideal home for the Super Eagles according to the FA Chairman of Kaduna State, Sharreeff Kassimu before Russia World Cup 2018 and AFCON 2019.
A former match commissioner in NPFL game concerning Akwa United and MFM, Kassimu told reporters that Nest of Champions in Uyo City is an excellent promotion for Nigerian football.
He took note that aside from Akwa Ibon’s first world-class stadium, the behavior and passion of the fans are remarkable.
“Apart from having an amazing stadium, the fans at Uyo are very well behaved and cooperative”, declared Kassimu. After being a commissioner of the NPFL games, he has observed that the fans at different matches are behaved. He is hoping that these fans continue that attitude and cheer for Rohr and the Super Eagles when Nigeria hosts Cameroon and South Africa in the World Cup and AFCON qualifiers.
Kassimu also lauded the management of Akwa United lead by Paul Bassey, a weathered football individual himself, for doing a fantastic job. Bassey is putting into practice what he has learned from his international experiences in working on the home games.
Other clubs should try to imitate Akwa United and should accolade the good works of the league organizers, declared Kassimu.
In June, the Eagles will host South Africa in an AFCON qualifier in June at Uyo. In August, the team will come back to the city for a match against Cameroon in a qualifier for Russia World Cup 2018.
