Yaounde, Cameroon Africa. (Cameroon Football) – The Turkish Ambassador to Cameroon, Oumar Farouk has led a diplomatic mission to the Far North Region with a substantial relief package for the flood victims in Magah.
The package estimated at over 19 million CFA francs was officially handed over to the local authorities today in Gividig where over 5,000 displaced families have been resettled.
The humanitarian relief package from the Turkish government through a Turkish home-based Non-governmental organisation known as Alkamas is made up of foodstuff, medication, cold requirements and a wide variety of other basic necessities.
Added to these are six modern water points constructed in the resettlement camp in Po and Gividig and evaluated at 19.4 million CFA francs.
That is the package that the Turkish Ambassador to Cameroon, His Excellency Oumar Farouk D. handed over to the local authorities as assistance from the Turkish government to the flood stricken families of Magah and Po in the Mayo Danay Division.
Speaking at the resettlement camp in Gividig, Ambassador Oumar Farouk D. extended to the flood victims a message of solidarity, fraternity, courage and love from the Turkish people, stating that the gesture is one that illustrates in concrete terms the excellent relation existing between Cameroon and Turkey.
In a show of love and solidarity, Ambassador Oumar Farouk D. visited some sick children in the makeshift health centre in the resettlement camp.
