Ten New Military Generals Take Command in Cameroon
Yaounde, Cameroon Africa. (Cameroon News) – The 10 new Generals in Cameroon’s defence forces appointed by President Paul Biya on March 11, 2011, today May 6, at the Yaounde Military Headquarters Brigade received their attributes and also officially took command of the various services they head.
The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o presided at the ceremony on the instructions of President Biya who is commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

Other promoted senior officials who received their new attributes include Cameroon’s Joint Army Chief of Staff, Meka Rene Claude who is henceforth Lieutenant General.

Defence Minister Mebe Ngo’o also officially commissioned Lieutenant General, Meka Rene Claude to the post of Joint Army Chief of Staff, the post he maintains, Brigadier General Mahamat Ahmed, Chief of the Staff of the Fire-fighting Corps, Rear Admiral Jean Mendoua Chief of Staff of the Navy, Brigadier General Jean Claude Momha, Chief of Staff of the Air Force and Major General Baba Souley Chief of Staff of the Land Force. Senior military officials ranking as chiefs of staff were equally commissioned into their duties.
From March 21 to 28, 2011, the Defence Minister Mebe Ngo’o and the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence in charge of the National Gendarmerie, Jean-Baptiste Bokam chaired the handing over ceremony between the in-coming and out-going senior military officials. Today’s ceremony giving the appointed officials their attributes, will enable them to fully carry out their duties.
