Collaboration for a programme to educate and develop youths has been signed between the mobile phone company and the University.

The “Youth Programme Initiative” of Vodafone Cameroon has been launched. With the launching, Vodafone Cameroon and the University of Yaounde II entered into a Memorandum of Understanding and signed the agreement last Friday, December 9, 2016 under the patronage of Jacque Fame Ndongo, the Minister of Higher Education at the University campus in Soa.

Antoine Pamboro, the CEO of Vodafone Cameroon, after the signing of the agreement said his company is also launching its social programme and does not only intend to endorse commercial activities. The Youth Programme is aimed towards the education and development of young people. To guarantee success in Cameroon, focus should be given to the youth who represent the future of any nation.  Three key initiatives of the Youth Programme will help support the youth and Cameroonian students in accomplishing their potentials.

The ‘Brand Ambassador” programme will give the chance for students to work at Vodafone Cameroon while studying; the “Young Graduate” forum created to offer graduates with their initial professional experience at Vodafone Cameroon with the creation of contracts for first employment ; and the Digital Platform “JUMP” which is an exclusive web portal that the students and young people can access content for education, training, self-employment, entrepreneurship, useful entertainment, and personal development.

A representative from the Rector of University of Yaounde II commended the partnership with Vodafone and mentioned that the students of Soa University are very fortunate and will be greatly benefited from the partnership.
