SIX HOSTAGES SECURE THEIR MUCH ANTICIPATED RELEASE

Douala, Cameroon October 1st (News.Cameroon-today.com) – The six seafarers who were abducted in series of bandit attacks off the Cameroon Coast on Sept 12th have been released by their captors.

In a series of bandit attacks that spanned the coast of New Guinea and Cameroon over six seafarers were taken as hostages. The last set of incidents happened with a dredging vessel based out of Belgium Jan De Nul when two of their men a Filipino and a Croatian were abducted off the Douala Port.

There was also another incident reported in the same sea belt where a few sailors from Cameroon were kidnapped.

The revolutionaries of the Bakassi Freedom Fighters came into the open stating that they were responsible for the attacks and in an exclusive telephonic conversation with Reuters indicated that the hostages would be released from captivity only if their comrades were freed.

They also claimed that they were responsible for the attacks last week on a marine service shipping vessel from Bourbon where three French seafarers were taken as hostages following an attack by a large number of armed men in speedboats aimed at the vessel.

In his latest announcement to the press the Communications Minister of the country stated that the six hostages which include the Filipino, the Croatian and the four Cameroonians who were taken hostages in the first two incidents are slated to be released from captivity. However he did not reveal the term at which the release was secured.
