Gernot Rohr, technical adviser for Super Eagles articulated his agreement with the move of his team captain, John Obi Mikel’s moving to the Chinese Super League.
Rohr stated that Mikel’s move to the Chinese League is good because it will provide him better opportunity of having added playing time.
The Eagle’s manager gave this pronouncement while talking with journalists at the awarding ceremony in Abuja of the Glo-CAF.
Rohr said that Mikel has not played adequately in the last month, but he did play all the events at the Rio Olympics. Rohr stressed that Mikel also played every events for the Super Eagles since his taking over of the team, but Mikel was not able to play in Chelsea.
Rohr is delighted that Mikel can now take part in the China league. For him, it is more profitable to play in China than to be with Chelsea and don’t take action at all. He further said that he is happy about it and pointed out that Mikel is already in twilight of his profession and it is fitting that he look for a good contract.
Regarding the preparation for the World Cup 2018 of the Super Eagles with their double header games against Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions in August this year, Rohr disclosed that the games will be thorny but added that the Indomitable Lions are beatable.
