Limbe, Cameroon – Man detained for forcing a baby to smoke

Limbe, Cameroon, Africa. November 2010 (news.cameroon-today.com) A man in Limbe is in gendarmerie detention for allegedly forcing a two old baby to smoke cigarettes.

The gendarmes in Limbe have arrested a man for forcing a two year old baby to smoke cigarettes and attempted child trafficking.

The man, Daniel, went visiting his friend Fakati at the Limbe Old Motor Park neighborhood. As soon as he walked through the door, he did not see Fokati, and suspected that the man was not at home.

Daniel immediately grabbed Fokati’s two year old son and forced a lit cigarette into his mouth.

The child screamed, and Fokati emerged. The angry father called the gendarmes, who later arrested and detained Daniel.

Details about Daniel have emerged, revealing that he is a marijuana addict as well as a known child trafficker. Investigations continue.

Child trafficking is a major social issue in Limbe, South Western Province of Cameroon, Africa.  In Limbe, nowadays,  several non profit organisations have mounted a serious fight to halt the disturbing ordeal.
