Yaounde, Cameroon Africa – Cameroon Flooding Issues The Minister of Communication, Issa Tchirouma Bakari appeals for national solidarity with flood victims in the North and Far North regions of Cameroon.
According to the Minister, about 123 billion CFA francs is required to tackle the problems arising from the flood.
The Cameroon government has appealed for national solidarity with the displaced flood victims in the North and Far North regions of the country.
Communication Minister, Issa Tchirouma Bakari who made the appeal was speaking during a press briefing this Friday in Yaounde.
He announced that over 123 billion CFA francs will be required to address the plight of the population of Magba in the Mayo Danay Division of the Far North Region and the flood victims of the Mayo Rey and Benue Divisions of the North Region.
Twelve (12) deaths have so far been reported, tens of thousands of people displaced and herds of cattle abandoned.
The minister said the situation deteriorated when the dyke of the Logone River gave way provoking flooding, adding that the Crisis Commission created by the government is at work to ensure the safety and security of the victims.
