International Digital Economy Forum will be hosted by Cameroon from May 15 to 17 in Yaoundé. Around 200 delegates from various countries, including high-caliber specialists, media spokespersons, and civil society are expected to attend this gathering.
In connection with the International Economic Conference named “Invest in Cameroon, Land of Attractiveness”, held same month last year also in Yaoundé with the theme “How to succeed in the Digital Economy in Cameroon?” this forum’s goal is to establish conditions for the nation to successfully change to digital economy and to emphasize the strengths of the division in the country.
The organizing committee declares that this forum will also activate international financing for innovative projects in the division, assist in the implementation of partnerships between organizations, promoters of local projects, national investors, and North American corporations to contribute to the growth of the digital economy in connection with the National Strategic Plan.
The present government scheme aspires to raise the contribution of the sector to the GDP (Gross Domestic Product), to 10 percent in 2020 from 5 percent of 2016, generate around 50,000 direct jobs in three years time, and also to boost taxes from 136 billion CFA in 2016 to 300 billion CFA by 2020.
