Yaounde, Cameroon, Africa. (Cameroon News) – The Global Hand Washing Day will be celebrated – will be commemorated next Monday, the 15th of October. Prior to the event the Minister of Basic Education Youssouf Hadidja Alim will launch activities to raise awareness on the importance of basic hygiene in nursery and primary schools this afternoon.
Many diseases are contracted through dirty hand and children are mostly targeted as they often play with filthy objects.
Water is life. This maxim is not only true because we use water in drinking or cooking but also because we use water to wash our hands.
Dirty hands are vectors of diseases like cholera, dysentery and parasite infections.
Children know it and they usually wash their hands.
When we are finished to wipe the board we wash our hands.
I wash my hands when I eat when I’m coming back from the toilet I wash my hand with soap in the bucket.
I wash my hands when I finished to play or when I come out from the toilet with soap and water.
At the Central English Primary School Group I Class IV teacher gives advice to her pupils about washing hands.
When students come to school mostly after wiping the board their hands are dirty with chalk so they wash their hands to avoid germs and to prevent dirtying their books, after we throw the water. We always keep a bucket of water in the class so that the children will always wash their hands.
The fifth edition of the Global Hand Washing Day is celebrated on the theme Help Your Children Reach Their Fifth Birthday.
