Senegal’s international friendly game against Nigeria on Thursday is a delight to Gernot Rohr, Nigeria’s head coach. Senegal and Nigeria, both African giants, played at the Hive Stadium in London with a 1 – 1 draw. Moussa Sow netted for Senegal and Kelechi Iheanacho scored for Nigeria.
Accordingly, coach Gernot Rohr used the game as a preparation for his team’s forthcoming qualifying game in opposition to Cameroon in August this year for 2019 FIFA World Cup.
He revealed that they chose to play against Senegal because of their physical strength as they will be playing against Cameroon in their next qualifiers. It was an opportunity to learn how his players level up to the confrontation of playing teams like those. He was happy with his team on that aspect.
Taking into consideration Cameroon who is the current African champions and whether that facet changes the tactics going into the said qualifier, his team is more self-assured. His players have the faith that being champions conveys.
Gernot Rohr discerns that if they win against Cameroon, it will provide them immense opportunity of being at the World Cup.
