ELECAM – Elections Cameroon Teams Travel to 27 Countries to Constitute Commissions

Yaounde, Cameroon Africa. (Cameroon News) – Some eight teams from the Electoral Board of Cameroon’s elections governing institution, Elections Cameroon, are travelling to 28 countries today, August 11, 2011 to constitute commissions to that will run the 2011 presidential electoral process.

In the African continent, the teams will work in 12 countries that include Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Chad, Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria, South Africa, Ethiopia, Algeria, Egypt and Morocco.

The teams going to America will work in the United States of America, Canada and Brazil. In Asia, the teams will work in China, Saoudi Arabia and Japan. Members of the ELECAM Board in Europe will work in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Russia, Italy, Switzerland, United Kingdom and Spain.

The Electoral Board Chairman of ELECAM, Dr Fonkam Azu’u Samuel said in Yaounde, August 10, 2011, that the law authorises the board members to work with heads of diplomatic missions in Cameroon’s Embassies, High Commissions and Consulates.

Their work consists of up setting up the commissions for the revision and registration of voters, commission for the establishment and distribution of voters cards and the polling commission.

President Paul Biya on August 9, 2011 signed the decree on the text of application to the law of July 13, 2011 relating to the vote of Cameroonians resident or settled abroad in presidential elections and referenda.

The law provides that Cameroonians will only vote in countries where Cameroon has diplomatic representations and consular posts. Only Cameroonians with consular cards will register and vote.

The Electoral Board members of Elections Cameroon will meet on the field, teams from the Directorate General of Elections who started work earlier in the month. Dr Fonkam Azu’u stated that the board members will inspect the electoral material the staff of the Directorate General of are putting in place in the various countries in which the 2011 presidential election to take place.

  1. this law is just out to play for the cpdms advantage.consulate members are all cpdm memberss.i doubt elecam would do a good job.we are minitoring.

ELECAM is doing her best and showing here once more through this massive deployment to several countries in the globe, her competence and independence to manage the electoral process in Cameroon.
