Court Detains Cameroonian for Employer’s Death

Ledjou Kouemou, a 21-year old Cameroonian appeared yesterday before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court for purportedly killing Dayo Adeleke, his employer, in her residence.

Kouemou, Adeleke’s domestic servant, was charged with one count of murder before Oluyemisi Adelaja, the Chief Magistrate.

Adelaja ruled that the suspect be detained at the lkoyi Prisons awaiting legal opinion from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.

She postponed the hearing of the case till February24.

Chinalu Uwadione, the prosecuting inspector, revealed to the court that the suspect committed the crime on December 20 at about 9:30pm at No. 15 Prince Tayo Adesanya St., Parkview Estate, lkoyi.

He further stated that the suspect had requested the victim for an additional salary, but the employer declined.

Uwadione said that the suspect stabbed his employer in the upper body with a kitchen knife only a few days after the latter got engaged and soon to be married.

The prosecutor stated that the offence violated Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, which may result to death sentence.

Kouemou’s plea was not considered.
