Council Member attend seminars on tender management
Kumba, Cameroon, October 3rd (News.Cameroon-Today.Com) - Board Supremos overwhelmed by the four day long workshop on securing and implementing government contracts in Kumba. The participants were reprised in detail about different aspect of public contracts.

Mayors and tender board members revealed immense pleasure in the insights that the four day workshop on procurement and carrying out of public contracts in Kumba provided them. The seminar was attended by the top brass in the councils of Tiko, Mbonge, Menji, Bamusso, Tombel and Eyumojock
“History will have it that we have been groping in darkness”,
Mbonge Council Mayor, Otte Mofa said mirroring the feelings of the other delegates who participated in the workshop conducted on 18th Sept by National Community-Driven Development Program (PNDP) which was basically aimed at educating Mayors, Presidents and Members of councils’ tender boards on how best to select and undertake public contracts.
During the initial phase which lasted for two days, experts from the Public Contracts Regulatory Agency (ARMP) advised the delegates on six chapters namely:
- How the system for declaring contracts is structured
- Procedures to be followed for bestowing public contracts
- Steps in follow up of public contracts execution
- How to ready files for calling tender application as well as inviting quotations
- Best practices pertaining to bid analysis
- Techniques adopted in providing public contracts
The last session was taken by PNDP consultants who delivered classes on the topics like fiduciary management and strategizing, selection of contracts and application for quotation, factors to be studied for determining applications for quotation, procedure for announcement of preferred cases, face to face consultations and choice of local support organizations, contracts management and categorization and storage of files.
Addressing a jubilant audience at the closing ceremony, the PNDP South West Regional Coordinator, Nkem David said that they were highly motivated by the enthusiasm shown by the participants throughout the training process. He encouraged them to deploy the knowledge gained.
“Do things rightly and transparently for this will encourage donors to keep supporting PNDP who will intend organize many more seminars. PNDP is here for you this explains why when you are in difficulties ring us for spontaneous solutions to your problems” Dr. Nkem added.
Other guest on the dais Messrs Mbeutcha Thomas, Boube Charles and Meka Abessolo also echoed the coordinators feelings.
