As Cameroonians, we should keep the momentum going.  Communication directed to the right channels will elevate the international interest.

           President, Republic of Cameroon.

Re: THE FUTURE OF CAMEROON IS IN YOUR HANDS

    Mr. President,

It is with much respect for the office of the President/Commander-in-Chief of the Cameroon Armed forces, our deep/unparalleled loyalty to/love for the Cameroon State & its institutions, our unequivocal respect for the Cameroon Constitution, and thirst for the Rule Law in Cameroon that we write to you today.

Recent developments in Cameroon and around the world have dictated the need for loyal and peace-loving Cameroonians of all walks of life, irrespective of gender, religious creed or tribe, to come together and take a deep look at the current state of affairs in Cameroon and also reflect over the type of Cameroon that Cameroonians will want to pass on to our children. This has culminated in the formation of the Movement for National Consciousness of Cameroon (MNCC). This is a movement and not a political party. It is a grassroots coalition of all Cameroonians who believe in a prosperous Cameroon that is founded on the rule of law, social justice and/or equal opportunities for all.

We want to start by thanking you for everything you have done as our Head of State, that have positively impacted the citizenry for the past twenty-nine (29)  years or there about. We note with utmost sincerity and appreciation that you love Cameroon very much, just like most other Cameroonians out there do. It is that love for our Country that motivated you to move quickly and take steps to squash the unfortunate events of April 6, 1984 and preserve national unity. It is with that same zeal and enthusiasm that you engaged diplomacy, the law, and military force (thanks especially to our brave and gallant military) to wrestle the oil rich Bakassi Peninsular from Nigeria. Cameroonians will forever remain grateful to you for that.

His Excellency, a review of your academic background, and work records, first as the Secretary-General at the Presidency of the Republic, then as the Prime Minister and the early days of your presidency portray you as a very hardworking technocrat. Your ideals of RIGOR & MORALIZATION, and National Unity and Integration were very appealing to your fellow citizens in the 80s and early 90s. Of course, you were then very energetic, and much more alert. Time and stress have obviously taken their toll on you, and you do not currently appear to have the level of energy, alertness of mind and enthusiasm you need to meet the high demands of the office of the President of the Republic. Besides, TIMES have changed. We do not live in the same world that we lived 29 years ago! You are not a young man either.

If you look at the current Cameroon situation with an open mind you will surely agree with us on the following:

    1)      Corruption in Cameroon is much higher now than it was when you first became president.

    2)      The CPDM party has become a safe haven and hiding place for corrupt civil servants and businessmen. As a result many honorable citizens are now reluctant to sincerely identify with the CPDM.

    3)      Unemployment rate in Cameroon today is over 40%. Underemployment too is over 16%, as compared to about 8% and 3% respectively when you took over office HE Ahmadou Ahidjo.

    4)      Many more Cameroonians have fled Cameroon now (for economic, social and political reasons) than ever before – a massive brain drain!

    5)      Public Education is decaying at an unprecedented rate today. Teachers are more of CPDM operatives/politicians than education professionals.

    6)      The healthcare delivery system is just too chaotic, and ordinary water has become a rare commodity in Cameroon – a country surrounded

It is good but the company incharged should be control and closely monitored to ensure that an effective job is done. The French created the foundation for the present Cameroon and its institutions so that they can easily strike business deals that are geared only towards making more money for themselves and leaving Cameroonians with nothing but crumbs, poor services at exhobitant prices, etc. The government should allow competition to take place in Cameroon, offer a level playing field for investors or contractors from other parts of the globe. This will at least result to good services at moderate prices to the consumers. The idea of giving French companies monopolistic advantage especially on basic comodities such as water and electricity is causing a major problem to Cameroonians. Rampant light out without notification or not well treated water that flows only in the night and yet u still have to pay dearly for such poor services.
