(Cameroon News) -The Minister of Public Health has called on newly appointed officials of the Chantal Biya International Research Center on HIV AIDS to take up the major challenge of fostering research on the treatment of HIV AIDS. André Mama Fouda was speaking today in Yaoundé while commissioning the officials into their functions.

Mr. Jean Stéphane Biatcha the President of the Organizing Committee of the Chantal Biya International Center for Research on HIV AIDS, Director of the institution and the Deputy Director are all expected to work closely together and ensure that the Chantal Biya International Center lives up to expectations.

A three-man team has just taken over the management of the Chantal Biya International Reference Center for Research on HIV and AIDS. The President of the organizing committee of the CIRCB Mr. Jean Stéphane Biatcha, the Director and this deputy [indiscernible 15:48] were installed today in Yaoundé by the Minister of Public Health Andre Mama Fouda. The Minister called on the officials to ensure that the institution lives up to its ambition of finding a treatment for HIV and AIDS.

Efforts and results attained so far from the research on the prevention and treatment of HIV and AIDS at the Chantal Biya International Research Center on HIV and AIDS.

The creation of the Chantal Biya International Reference Center for Research on HIV and AIDS on February 23, 2006 came with a promise that of developing a vaccine for the treatment of HIV and AIDS which today looks promising. The researchers of the center are now working on a vaccine developed in New York some 15 years ago. Their objective, ensuring its efficacy and safety as explained here by the newly-installed Deputy Director of the Chantal Biya International Reference Center for Research on HIV and AIDS.

They tested the vaccine at the first level. It was not dangerous to the people. It gives some promising result. And then phase two is to extend the number of people you have to administer the vaccine and get more tangible result.

Still funding remains a big challenge which means making a breakthrough may not necessarily be anytime soon although the researchers are now working in that direction. In the meantime the center better known by its French acronym as CIRCB has remained dedicated to improving the quality of care and services offered to persons living with as well as to those affected by HIV and AIDS.

One of the things we do is biological monitoring. We have to do the people CD4 to guide clinicians on how to administer their medication, another one is the conduct of viral load and then the third one is resistance to anti-retroviral. So occasionally patients develop resistance to the treatment they are taking and we have in our center the ability to conduct research and find out alternative medications for the patients.

With a new director and deputy director plus a president of the organizing committee there are hopes like Minister Andre Mama Fouda said that the CIRCB will grow at the national and international levels.

Public Health Minister André Mama Fouda would be on a working visit to Douala in the Littoral region tomorrow during which he will assess progress at the ongoing free campaign for the treatment of eye infections. (Cameroon News) – The Global Hand Washing Day will be celebrated – will be commemorated next Monday, the 15th of October. Prior to the event the Minister of Basic Education Youssouf Hadidja Alim will launch activities to raise awareness on the importance of basic hygiene in nursery and primary schools this afternoon.

Many diseases are contracted through dirty hand and children are mostly targeted as they often play with filthy objects.

Water is life. This maxim is not only true because we use water in drinking or cooking but also because we use water to wash our hands.

Dirty hands are vectors of diseases like cholera, dysentery and parasite infections.

Children know it and they usually wash their hands.

When we are finished to wipe the board we wash our hands.

I wash my hands when I eat when I’m coming back from the toilet I wash my hand with soap in the bucket.

I wash my hands when I finished to play or when I come out from the toilet with soap and water.

At the Central English Primary School Group I Class IV teacher gives advice to her pupils about washing hands.

When students come to school mostly after wiping the board their hands are dirty with chalk so they wash their hands to avoid germs and to prevent dirtying their books, after we throw the water. We always keep a bucket of water in the class so that the children will always wash their hands.

The fifth edition of the Global Hand Washing Day is celebrated on the theme Help Your Children Reach Their Fifth Birthday.

CAMWATER – CAMEROON WATER UTILITIES CORPORATION

Help Your Children Reach Their Fifth Birthday – Cameroon Celebrates Global Hand Washing Day next Monday, the 15th of October. is a post from: News Cameroon-Today.com
Pin It

Minister of Public Health André Mama Fouda – A strategic plan on how to eliminate tropical diseases in Cameroon is under review in Yaoundé.

Featured

Health

World News

André Mama Fouda

tropical diseases

Minister of Public Health André Mama Fouda - A strategic plan on how to eliminate tropical diseases in Cameroon is under review in Yaoundé. Minister of Public Health André Mama Fouda - A strategic plan on how to eliminate tropical diseases in Cameroon is under review in Yaoundé. (Cameroon News) - The document has been designed against the backdrop of disturbing medical statistics which indicate that about 11 million Cameroonians are affected by at least six identified tropical diseases.

According to the Minister of Public Health André Mama Fouda, government and health partners are bent on eradicating the disease in Cameroon by 2016 at the latest.

The Minister of Public Health André Mama Fouda has reaffirmed government’s resolve to combat and possibly eliminate identified neglected tropical diseases in Cameroon.

He was speaking in Yaoundé today while launching activities elaborated in a strategic plan document to fight against tropical neglected diseases.

Medical experts say there are over six identified neglected tropical diseases in Cameroon. Some of them are onchocerciasis, buruli, trichomoniasis and schistosomiasis. Most of them are transmitted through a vector, the fly, to humans.

According to the Minister of Public Health André Mama Fouda many people across the country suffer from these diseases and calls for proper concern and the review of the strategic plan document.

With this new plan we decided to develop and implement synergy actions between the different programs.

The prevalence is not negligible. The president of the Coalition of the Non-Governmental Organizations Ann Tarini:

Its millions of Cameroonians that are at risk. It’s over 16 million for schistosomiasis and more than 10 million for onchocerciasis and 17 million for lymphatic filariasis and almost 1 million for trichoma. So many people are at risk.

In spite of the weaknesses there is hope with the improved activities.

The weakness is the coordination to an integrated approach more coherent but it’s also linked to the weakness of the health system. So the quality of the activities has to be improved.
The launch of the activities of the strategic plan document is proof of government’s resolve to fight and eliminate the identified neglected tropical diseases in Cameroon between 2012 to 2016.

Mama andre fouda omgba Cameroon Minister of public health

Minister of Public Health André Mama Fouda – A strategic plan on how to eliminate tropical diseases in Cameroon is under review in Yaoundé. is a post from: News Cameroon-Today.com
Pin It

Baffoussam Imaing Center: Bafoussam Has a New Medical Imaging Center.

Bafoussam

Featured

Health

Bafoussam Imaging Center

Baffoussam Imaing Center: Bafoussam Has a New Medical Imaging Center. Baffoussam Imaing Center: Bafoussam Has a New Medical Imaging Center.
