Yaounde, Cameroon Africa. (Cameroon News) – President Paul Biya of Cameroon and Cardinal Zenon Grocholewski, Prefect of the Catholic Education Congregation, on December 16, 2011, discussed the contribution of the Catholic University of Central Africa located in Cameroon’s political capital, Yaounde to the development of the country.
His Eminence Cardinal Zenon who was the Pope’s representative to celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of the Catholic University of Central Africa, had over 30 minutes discussions with President Biya at the Unity Palace.
“We want that the Catholic University which is in Cameroon to work for the good of this country and its progress”, the Pope’s representative said in an interview after the State-House audience.
President Biya and Cardinal Zenon Grocholewski agreed on the importance of education as the future of humanity depends on quality education, the Cardinal said. He expressed gratitude to Paul Biya for efforts in the education sector and support to the Catholic University.
The Catholic Church has 1,500 Universities in the world that are specialized in the economic, social, religious and political sectors, the representative of the Holy See stated.
He was accompanied to the audience by the Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, His Lordship, Piero Pioppo.
