Yaounde, Cameroon Africa. (Cameroon News) – Cameroonians living in Germany plan to invest FCFA 656 million in setting up a factory for the manufacture of medical equipment such as syringes and drips back in the country, targeting the Central African Sub-regional market.
“The Cameroon Diaspora in Germany have created a financial institution, Cameroon Diaspora Development Club (CaDiDeC)”, the President of the Club, Jerome Monteu Nana said in Yaounde last weekend. He was in Cameroon to participate at the fourth annual Forum on Diaspora Competence organised on May 5 to 7.
Talking to the press, Jerome Monteu Nana said the financial institution will use all of 2011 and 2012 to gather funds for the project and was quite confident that the over 20,000 Cameroonians residing in Germany would raise the money.
He said the investment in the medical sector was just the first in a series of projects as they are exploring possibilities in the information and communication technology.
Cameroonians in the Diaspora have a world of knowledge and skills in the areas of information and communication technologies, finance and economy, renewable energy that could be well exploited for the socio-economic development of the country.
Locam Global company with a Cameroonian based in the USA, Beatrice Mensah Tayui as its Chief Executive Officer, had earlier been discussing with Cameroon government officials on the company’s interest to invest in the construction sector by renting and leasing caterpillars and other heavy duty equipment.
