Douala, Cameroon Africa. January 2011. (Cameroon News) - Two Cameroonians and an Iraqi have been found guilty of being involved in a fake diamonds deal in Dubai.
The story goes like this that the cash was put into a box that was real but the money that came out was in now way real.
The Dubai Criminal Court has asked the Prosecution to probe once again into an issue that involves a fake diamond deal and forged US Dollars which is estimated to have created a loss of around SR1.112 million.
The three criminals who are being accused in the deal include two men who hold passports from Cameroon and the third is an Iraqi. The three men had allegedly cheated a businessman based out of Saudi and got him into the deal involving fake diamonds.
WRA, (fugitive) and HBN, both national of Cameroon, and ISM, 43, an Iraqi, on March 1, 2010, offered Fayez bin Naif , who is a businessman operating out of Saudi Arabia some diamonds for sale , which were apparently fake.
Naif paid them the cash in accordance with the value of the diamonds which they were found to put in a box for verifying.
Following this they stated that the deal would be delayed and returned the money along with the box. It was only when Naif checked the money later that he found that the money that the box contained was forged US dollars.
A policeman testified that in machinery for doubling cash notes had been found at the residence of the two Cameroon nationals and had been also confiscated together with the forged dollars.
The two Cameroon nationals are facing additional charges for having stayed in Dubai even on expiry of their visas.
