
Yaounde, Cameroon Africa. (Cameroon News) – Cameroonians resident or settled in the Diaspora will vote for the country’s Head of State in the 2011 upcoming presidential election in 33 countries spread across Africa, Europe, Asia and America.
The Minister of External Relations, Henri Eyebe Ayissi disclosed the countries in a release issued on August 24, 2011 in Yaounde.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of External Relations, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh in an interview in the Cameroon government bilingual daily newspaper, Cameroon Tribune of Friday, August 26, 2011, said the countries in which Cameroonians abroad will vote in the presidential election for the first time, have 35 Cameroonian diplomatic missions and six consular posts.
The countries are grouped into four zones with Africa topping the chart with 16 countries. The countries in which voting will take place in Africa include; South Africa, Algeria, Congo, Cote D’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Egypt, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Liberia, Morocco, Nigeria, the Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Chad and Tunisia.
Europe’s zone comes second with 10 countries that include Germany, Belgium, Spain, Vatican State, France, Italy, Netherlands, United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Russian Federation and Switzerland.
Asia zone has four countries which are Saoudi Arabia, China, Israel and Japan. Finally America comes fourth with three countries which are Canada, Brazil and the United States of America.
Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) teams, Mr Ngoh Ngoh said, have been working to create the various commissions in charge of the presidential election process in the 33 countries. He said the Ministry of External Relations through the diplomatic missions is playing a facilitating role by putting at the disposal of ELECAM staff.
The Minister of External Relations, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh said, instructed the heads of diplomatic missions to facilitate the process of obtaining Consular cards, the required document for Cameroonians abroad to register for the election. In accordance with the law, registration for the presidential election in Cameroon ends on August 31, 2011.
