The Cameroonian movie Ninah’s Dowry, which portrays a young woman’s struggle to survive in a violent traditional setting, premiers at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival in Florida USA goes on this weekend.
The trailer for this movie has been creating global burst for some months now. Ninah’s Dowry will premier at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival that opens this weekend in Florida USA.
The movie’s production manager and villain is played by Anurin Nwunembom who throws some light on the 15 million Franc production that was shot in the hilly rural site of Sabga, Jakiri and Bambeli in the Northwest Region and really talk in a local mother tongue with English subtitles.
We needed a lot of local color to reflect some culture. I mean cultural context.
Ninah’s Dowry is a story of a young Cameroonian girl in her early 20s who finds that her marriage is more of hell than the happiness it is intended to be and she decides to run away from the man who beats her for no excuse at all but the man says, okay if you have to go then you pay back the dowry which I paid on your head and their fight to survive in the midst of all of this.
Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival is 25 years of existence and to have Ninah’s Dowry premier there is a very, very great honor.
