CAMEROON SPORTS NEWS – ETO’O AT HOME

Douala, Cameroon Africa. January 2011. (Cameroon News) – Eto’o has spent the New Year at his home land Cameroon with his family.

Eto’o who currently resides in Milan flew in from the fashion capital to mark the beginning of a New year and to spend time with his family in Cameroon during the eve of the New Year.

His diary indicated a very hectic schedule wherein the major events were the grand wedding of his sister which took place at the office of the CPDM party in Bonanjo-Douala. He was also provided a private audience with ZOAH Michel, the Minister Sports and Physical Education (Minsep) on the wee hours of the morning on Sunday.

The meeting happened at the premises Minsep, and spectators indicate that the two celebrities were outwardly very polite in their interaction initially congratulating each other for the New Year and wishing each other the best for the upcoming year.

“The purpose of this meeting, was to deliver in hand to Samuel Eto’o, the congratulatory message that the Head of State addressed to him following his coronation as the best African player for the fourth time ” said the public relations department of Minsep.

In the letter which was personally addressed to the ace striker, Paul Biya, President of the Republic, had gone to no lengths to shower his accolades on both the talent and the skills displayed by the young footballer in not just his National Team but also his club, Inter Milan. He also specifically referred to the record of the striker winning the Prestigious African footballer of the Year award for the fourth time as “worthy of admiration and inspiration.”

An official of Minsep, close colleague of Michel ZOAH, the two personalities had also undergone some major discussions about the deplorable state of the National team and the not so pleasant climate that surrounds the Indomitable Lions after their dismal performances ina number of prestigious matches including the FIFA World Cup in 2010.

They also discussed about the crucial match to be held in March this year when the Lions are to face the wrath of Lions of Teranga of Senegal in Dakar in the qualifying matches for the AFCON deciding as to who will account for the playoffs of CAN 2012. The dismal performance of the Indomitable Lions has been providing quite some confidence to its rivals and has been in the minds of most Cameroonians for quite some time now.

The result of this very vital match will be the decisive factor providing the winner a direct entry into the finals of the next African Cup of nations and hence formed a major part of the discussions between the minister and the team captain.

There were also discussions of the same type with other major players of the team that the sports supremo had slated for the days between Monday 27 and Thursday, December 30.

Among them, Nicolas Nkoulou, vice captain of the Lions during his stay in Yaounde, killed two birds with the single stone when he announced his nuptials were to be held after the meeting with the sports authorities.

Samuel Eto’o will be taking a flight from Douala International Airport Sunday night to Milan, where he will restart on his rigorous fitness schedule under the new coach of Inter Milan, Leonardo which will equip him for his comeback into the team for the calcio series A, the professional league in Italy.

The member of Udinese indicates 10 goals against 9 for the ace striker of Inter Milan who is also apparently the captain of the Cameroon National Team.

Facing the brunt of rumors that allege that Eto’o is unworthy of the honor of the title for the fourth time the onus is on the captain of the Indomitable Lions as to what he can do not to bring the glory back to his team and himeland..
