Yaounde, Cameroon Africa. (Cameroon News) – Odile Ngaska was last Saturday, June 11 re-elected the Board Chairperson of the Cameroon Musical Arts Corporation (SOCAM) during an elective general assembly meeting at the Yaounde Conference Centre.

SOCAM is the sole authors rights corporation in Cameroon with the responsibility to collect, manage and distribute royalties to musical artists.
The incumbent president elect, Odile Ngaska, won 266 out of the 432 votes cast.

She therefore beat other contenders like Elvis Kemayo who came second with 117 votes cast and Esso Essomba who had 39 votes occupying the third position. Bienvenue Mbega was the fourth candidate.

She will pilot the affairs of SOCAM for the next three years.

“We will continue to modernize SOCAM”, Odile Ngaska told the press after her re-election.

Her emergency action will be to appease musical artists and reconcile the family with the ambition to build a solid corporation.

She promised to use all the means possible to ensure that associations and institutions using their music pays authors rights.
