CAMEROON MINISTER BAPES BAPES ARRESTED – OPERATION...

Cameroon Minister of Secondary Education, Louis Bapes Bapes has been arrested this Monday 31st March 2014 in Yaounde.

The Minister was summoned earlier this morning by the Special Criminal Court and place on preventive detention at the Kondengui Central prison later in the day.

The charges against the Minister of Secondary Education are not known at this stage but speculations are rife that he is suspected to have embezzled state funds.

For the first time, a sitting Minister in Cameroon is placed on preventive detention before being replaced.

Louis Bapes Bapes was last seen in public on the 24th March 2014 in his native Sanaga Maritime Division during the 29th anniversary celebration of the Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement.
