CAMEROON FESTIVITIES & HOLIDAYS – CHRISTMAS PEAKS FASHION IN CAMEROON

Douala, Cameroon, Africa. December2010  (Cameroon News)  -   Youngsters in Cameroon gear up in their best attire for Christmas.
 

Christmas is one time of the year where everyone is highly conscious about the way they dress. People world over compete to look their best and wear their best outfits for the festival and Cameroon does not want to lag behind in any manner especially the young population.

Youngsters both girls and boys all across Cameroon are seen buying dresses and accessories that are in vogue currently as the country gets ready for the biggest festival of the year Christmas.

The fashion statement amongst the youngsters is mostly set by the style statements set by both International music start both of African origin and those otherwise.
It is a common sight this Christmas to see young girls sporting laced shoes that finish just above the ankle level which has been developed by the Moroccan designer Boudin.

Yet another item that is very much in demand according to the local salespersons in the jean trousers and t-shirt designs that have been followed by Ivorian music stars.
Youth seem to be competing with other as to who resembles the hot hip hop stars of today R n’ B, or coupe decaler singer this festival season. This season’s Christmas wardrobe seems to be incomplete without a dress or accessory sported by the music video that was a rage during this year.


The girls all want to own the Boudin shoe while boys are going in for the flat soled sneakers that finishes just above the ankle. You can see innumerable T shirts and other clothing items etched with the names of songs and singers like Bobaraba, Yorobo, Fally, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna being sold at Yaounde’s largest market, the Mokolo market which is where most people go shopping for festival seasons.

One shop keeper stated that he has a huge stock that is marked with lots of variety and in vogue with what the latest fashion demands. He said, “There are sexy shorts, body-hugging dresses, bobaraba, and t-shirts”


These fashion statements come in all sizes and you would be surprised to find that the very same items are also available for infants .On the other hand most of the older generation seems to be wanting to go the conventional way donning either a suit irrespective of whether the suit is sans elegance in some bizarre denim material.

People seem to be busy shopping for the right outfit and matching accessories for the innumerable parties and visits that they plan to make during the festival and New Year and vendors and traders are geared up to provide them maximum choice and let them shop till they drop.
