Yaounde, Cameroon Africa. (Cameroon News) – Supporters of Union des populations du Cameroun (UPC) of Augustin Frederic Kodock, will vote for incumbent President Paul Biya, candidate of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement in the October 9, 2011 presidential election.
The information is contained in a press release of the Political bureau of the UPC after its members met on October 5, 2011.
“After a critical analysis of the 23 candidates in the October 9 election and without complacence, the UPC owing to its historic experience and maturity, invites all Cameroonians of good faith, its senior officials, members and supporters to massively vote Paul Biya, who today more than ever before, holds the future of our country before history,” the press release states.
Cameroon’s independent electoral body, Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) rejected the UPC candidate, Secretary General Augustin Frederic Kodock’s nomination papers for the October 9 presidential poll on grounds of the non provision of a tax certificate.
The Supreme Court acting as the Constitutional Council further rejected the petition of the candidate requesting for the candidacy to be accepted.
The UPC officials call on candidate Paul Biya to put in place a patriotic programme of unity of the nation and raise the living standards of Cameroonians.
UPC is one of the parties that had a government platform with President Biya’s ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) after the 2004 presidential election.
The UPC supporters voted for Paul Biya in the election. Frederic Kodock joined a coalition government and was later on dropped.

It is just another party amongst the so many supporting President Paul Biya. All allied parties of CPDM are headed by the greatest political figures and first runners of the race of multiparty democracy in Cameroon.
