Yaounde, Cameroon Africa. (Cameroon News) – The Cameroon Electricity Corporation, (AES-SONEL) will train engineers from the young Chadian Electricity Corporation created in May 2010, starting from January 2012.
The cooperation agreement was signed in the AES-SONEL head office in Douala on January 16, 2011 by the Director General of AES-SONEL, Jean David Bile and the Director General of the Chadian Electricity Corporation, Mahamat Senoussi.
For a period of one year renewable, the engineers of the Chadian electricity corporation will be trained on the exploitation and maintenance of thermal plants, as well as in the exploitation and maintenance, distribution and transportation of electricity networks.
The Chadian electricity supply institution has the daunting task of increasing energy supply in the country in 2012 through putting in place a thermal plant, Mahamat Senoussin said during the Douala event.
“There will be more cooperation agreements in the technical domain and other giant projects”, the Chadian official stated, adding that the deficit in electricity supply in Chad will probably be filled and completed by AES-SONEL.
For Jean David Bile of the Cameroon Electricity Corporation, AES-SONEL, the first phase of the agreement concern offering facilities and training to the staff of the young Chadian corporation, stating that they would have to jointly define the key areas of the training programme.
