Yaounde, Cameroon Africa(Cameroon News) -
UK is looking for better business prospects with Cameroon.
The U.K. has evoked the Cameroon government to throw open the doors of its business environment to U.K. businesses and has told them that a lot of companies operating out of the UK are looking forward to invest in the West African nation, the minister for African Affairs at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has said.
Henry Bellingham issued the comment after he had discussions with Cameroon’s President Paul Biya and Premier Philemon Yang this weekend.
“First of all, the U.K. is passionate about increasing trade with Cameroon. We already have a number of world class U.K. companies that are doing business here in Cameroon. But more business needs to come here; not just to sell their goods, but to invest their skills in the people of this country,” Bellingham told reporters Sunday.
A lot of foreign businesses though aware of the lucrative prospects in Cameroon are apprehensive about investing in the country because of the issues involved in cutting past the administrative red tape.
Cameroon’s Prime Minister Yang has assured that the government would do everything possible to enhance the business environment as indicated in his country’s strategic economic development plan, which work towards to changing the country into an “emerging economy by 2035″.
