Yaounde, Cameroon Africa(Cameroon News) – Cameroon’s only cocoa grinder purchases 84 T of cocoa in March.
Sic-Cacaos, Cameroon’s only domestic cocoa beans grinder, purchased 84 tonnes of beans in March, dipping from 424 tonnes that was reported during the previous month, according to official numbers taken from the firm on Tuesday. The figure is indicative of the dip that had been registered during the same month last year, when 136 tonnes were purchased.
The volumes recorded in March will take the total quantity of cocoa beans the company has purchased since the beginning of the 2010/11 season in August to 26,232 tonnes, up from 17,099 tonnes for the same period in 2009/2010.
Sic-Cacaos, a subsidiary of Swiss company Barry Callebaut (BARN.S: Quote), uses the cocoa beans to manufacture cocoa powder, cocoa butter, cocoa cake and other bi-products sold in Cameroon, the CEMAC zone and Nigeria.
