Yaounde, Cameroon Africa(Cameroon News) -
Legend Mining announced updated test results to 105m at 29.5% iron at Ngovayang in Cameroon.
Legend Mining (ASX: LEG) has upgraded the currently wide iron intersections from two diamond drillholes at the Ngovayang Project in the Cameroon.
The two intersections from the Melombo North target are presently at:
- 91.2 metres at 23.1% iron (previously 94.85 metres at 17.6% iron); and
- 105.4 metres at 29.5% iron (previously 58.42 metres at 22.8% iron).
Mark Wilson, managing director, said “These drill results confirm the large scale and high quality potential of the Ngovayang Project, particularly when you consider the high grade (plus 70% iron) and low impurity magnetite concentrate we reported earlier this year.
“We have only drill tested Eseka, Melombo North and Melombo West so far, and our objective of ranking as many targets as possible this year with drilling activity is on track. We look forward to the news flow as the work progresses.”
With respect of the upgrades, Legend also said that the fact “magnetic” rocks of variable intensity and thickness have been intersected in nine of the ten drill holes at Melombo North, indicates the magnetite potential of the target and inside the project generally.
The news flow is anticipated to sustain for Legend in the short term, with four more holes to be diamond drilled at Melombo West targeting a 6 kilometre long aeromagnetic feature that is connected with magnetite gneiss. The portable rig will then be shifted to Melombo East for a 16 hole program.
What is working to showcase the potential of Ngovayang, is that previously in the year Legend struck a rail and port access deal with their Australian counterpart and Cameroon iron ore company Sundance Resources (ASX: SDL).
The letter of intent indicates that the two Australian based companies with iron ore assets in the country would synergize to determine ways for Legend to use Sundance’s planned infrastructure and rail and port haulage.
The infrastructure is an integral part of Mbalam Iron Ore Project that is situated in Cameroon and Congo in central West Africa.
Both Sundance’s Mbalam Project and Legend’s project are placed in close proximity to each other in the southern region of the Republic of Cameroon, with the aforesaid rail network being constructed by Sundance along the boundary of Ngovoyang.
To total up Legend has a huge area of around 3900 square kilometre land holding in the country.
Legend Mining (ASX: LEG) is a cashed-up exploration company with projects in Cameroon and Western Australia. The company’s exploration is targeted towards the discovery of iron ore, base metal and precious metal deposits.
Legend is presently drilling iron ore targets at its Ngovoyang project in Cameroon. The project spans across more than 2,000km2 and is well connected by existing road, rail and port infrastructure. Legend opines that Ngovoyang’s size, prospectivity and infrastructure has the potential to be a “company maker”.
Legend’s mission is to make value-enhancing mineral discoveries and make maximum use of all available asset bases to ramp up shareholder advantages to the maximum extent possible.
In March 2011 Legend revealed that its 90% subsidiary Camina SA had acquired the Tapare Gold Project from Cameroon General Mining.
