Cameroon’s National Assembly Prepares for Biya’s Swearing-in

Yaounde, Cameroon Africa. (Cameroon News) – The November budgetary ordinary session of Cameroon’s National Assembly for the 2011 legislative year, opened at the Ngoa-Ekelle Glass Palace, Tuesday, November 1 with the House Speaker, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril stating that its historic moment will be the swearing-in ceremony of President –elect, Paul Biya on Thursday, November 3, 2011.

Paul Biya who will take the oath of office for the seventh time since getting to power in November 1982, won 77.989 percent of the votes cast in the October 9, 2011 presidential in which he competed with 22 other candidates.

Parliament Speaker, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril congratulated President-elect, Paul Biya on his brilliant re-election and also lauded Cameroonians for their maturity demonstrated throughout the entire electoral process.

Parliament, Hon. Cavaye said, expects government to table a finance bill and the government 2012 financial, economic and social programme which are tailored to start the effective execution of Paul Biya’s major accomplishments policy whose ultimate goal is to make Cameroon an emerging country by 2035.

The November session of the National Assembly will be devoted essentially to examine and vote the State budget for the 2012 financial year. President Biya during his ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) third ordinary congress in Yaounde in September 2011, announced that Cameroon will be transformed into a vast worksite at the beginning of 2012 and reiterated the declaration during his message of thanks to the nation on October 25, 2011.

The budget to be voted in Parliament which, the House Speaker urged should pay much attention to investment, will be to start the proper execution of giant infrastructure and other key projects in the country.
