Yaounde, Cameroon Africa. (Cameroon News) – The Cameroon government airlines company, Cameroon Airlines Corporation (CAMAIR-CO) has put in place a training programme who will take over from the German engineers of the Lufthansa Technik company in at most two years.
The Chief Executive Officer of CAMAIR-CO, Alex Van Elk disclosed the information in Yaounde, on August 18, 2011 after discussions with Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang. The Prime Minister received in audience a delegation of the German company, Lufthansa Technik, the technical partner of CAMAIR-CO.
The Director of Business Development International Relations for Africa of Lufthansa Technik, Fréderic Vo Van who is on a working visit to Cameroon paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, accompanied by Serge Bakoa of the Legal Department of the company and the Chief Executive Officer of CAMAIR-CO, Alex Van Elk.
“We are here on the invitation of the Prime Minister and on the request of our technical partner, Lufthansa Technik for an evaluation meeting after four and a half months of flying to see how the contract is executed and what we can do to improve our relationship and to optimise our maintenance department,” The Chief Executive Officer of CAMAIR-CO, Alex Van Elk said after the meeting. He lauded progress in the aviation company, stating that there also exist a programme to train Cameroonian engineers who will take over from the Germans in at most two years to come.
Alex Van Elk disclosed that negotiations are ongoing with Lufthansa Technik on spare parts provision. On efforts to make CAMAIR-CO more competitive, he said, there have feedback forms for passengers. “ 95 percent of the forms make me happy because passengers talk about the competitiveness of the company, excellent services and Cameroonian hospitality”, he revealed.
