Nkout, Cameroon Africa. January 2011. (Cameroon News) - African Aura provides a latest upate on Nkout iron ore project in Cameroon.
African Aura Mining Inc and AIM listed in various stock exchanges as an exploration and development company released the news of the detailed geological intercepts at its iron ore project at Nkout, southern Cameroon.
- The first phase of the program of 4,191 meter of diamond drilling completed at Nkout Centre.
- The crucial results that were determined include
- 92.5m of haematite dominant cap at 46.7% Fe (hole NKGS004)
- 178m of magnetite BIF at 35.1% Fe (hole NKDD002) and
- 100m of magnetite BIF at 38.1% Fe (hole NKDD009)
- Maiden NI 43-101 compliant resource statement is expected to be announced by the beginning of February 2011
- All encompassing drill campaign of 24,000m planned for 2011
Mr Luis da Silva CEO of African Aura commented that
“The geology and extent of iron ore mineralization within the initial 3 kilometer long Nkout centre area bodes very well for the future upside to be tested along the balance 8 kilometer of strike.
The extensions east and west and further anomalies to the south will be part of a more aggressive drilling campaign in 2011.
This should allow the pending resource estimate to be both increased and the resources category upgraded.
The excellent drill results to date combined with the successful metallurgical testing bode very well for the potential of Nkout.”
As a sequel to the press release issued by the Company’s on 21 September 2010, the Company finished its 4,191 meter core drill program on the Nkout property located in southern Cameroon in November.
The drilling has ascertained the presence of an “east west trending and concordant magnetite bearing banded iron formation coincident with the geophysical target and topography of the Nkout ridge”.
Drilling was more or less concentrated on the Nkout centre target that comprises of around 3 kilometer of a regional magnetic anomaly that is present for around 20 kilometer inside the Djoum license area.
The drilling program that was finished in the recent past is basically intended to target the magnetite BIF and the oxidized cap material that is placed above it.
In total, 11 inclined drill holes were finished of which 9 intercepted a 200 meter average down hole sequence dominated by BIF units and 22 vertical drill holes targeting the oxidized cap were completed of which 11 intercepted an average of 43 meter before intercepting fresh BIF.
The average grade of the BIF of 40% that was revealed earlier was found to be wrong and hence should not be assumed as the average grade of Nkout, the inaugural resource estimation will be released in early February, which will also comprise of the resource grade.
Metallurgy
As the reports issued on 19 January 2011 indicate, the metallurgical results that were obtained from initial test work are very promising.
Davis Tube test results were also very positive and indicate that when using a grind size of P90 less than 100?, that a very high grade concentrate averaging >70% Fe, 0.16% Al2O3, 2.2% SiO2 and <0.01% P is attained at a mass recovery of 42.2%.
About Cameroon Nkout Iron Ore Project
The Nkout Iron Ore mine that is fully owned by African Aura , a mining and exploration company is situated in the regions that come under the Company’s Djoum license in southern Cameroon.
The project was chalked out from interpretation of airborne magnetic and remote sensing data in 2006 whilst undertaking a detailed investigation that probed the presence of gold deposits in the 150km long, Sangemalina-Djoum Archaean greenstone belt originally determined by the BRGM.
